Blizzard and CD Projekt Red team up for Diablo 4 Geralt skin and The Witcher 3 on Battle.net

Blizzard Entertainment and CD Projekt Red have announced a new partnership that will bring The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered to Blizzard's Battle.net launcher and offer a Geralt of Rivia-themed cosmetic skin in Diablo 4. The collaboration was revealed in separate blog posts from both studios, with CD Projekt Red providing a more detailed breakdown of the relationship while Blizzard kept its announcement focused on the immediate practical details.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered, which was announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live, will launch on Battle.net on September 29. The upcoming expansion Songs of the Past will also arrive on the platform next year. Players who pre-order the expansion through Blizzard's store will receive a Geralt of Rivia-inspired skin for Diablo 4.
CD Projekt Red's global PR director Radek Grabowski described the partnership as a meeting of studios that share a common ambition. "Both CD Projekt Red and Blizzard Entertainment create worlds that allow players to immerse themselves in captivating adventures for hundreds of hours," he said in a statement. "Both studios have always had the ambition to raise the bar — for themselves and, in doing so, for the video game industry. Their worlds and characters have inspired not only other game developers, but also musicians, filmmakers, cosplayers, and, of course, countless players."
The companies have indicated that this is only the beginning of their collaboration. CD Projekt Red's official social media account stated that the Battle.net release is "just the beginning of our partnership with Blizzard," and Blizzard has confirmed that more details will be shared during this year's BlizzCon, which takes place on September 12 and 13.
This partnership comes at a significant time for CD Projekt Red. The studio has been focusing heavily on Cyberpunk 2077 in recent years, which has sold 40 million copies since its launch in December 2020. However, the company also laid off nine developers earlier this month who were working on Project Sirius, a multiplayer Witcher game. Another nine employees from that project have been invited to apply for roles on different projects within the company.
The Witcher 3 Remastered features improved combat, addressing one of the most common criticisms of the original 2015 RPG. The remastered version will be available on Battle.net alongside its existing availability on other platforms.
CD Projekt Red has not confirmed whether the partnership will extend to The Witcher IV or the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, both of which are currently in development. The companies are expected to reveal more about their collaboration at BlizzCon 2026.
The collaboration between the two studios represents an unusual crossover between two of the biggest names in Western RPG development. Blizzard's Diablo series and CD Projekt Red's The Witcher franchise have both been influential in the action RPG genre, though they have historically operated in separate distribution ecosystems. The move to bring The Witcher 3 to Battle.net signals a new openness from CD Projekt Red to expand its distribution channels, while Blizzard gains a marquee title for its launcher.
For players, the immediate benefits are clear: Diablo 4 owners who are also fans of The Witcher can now look forward to a Geralt-themed cosmetic, while PC gamers who prefer to use Battle.net as their primary storefront will be able to purchase and play The Witcher 3 Remastered through that platform. The Songs of the Past expansion, when it launches next year, will also be available on Battle.net, with the pre-order bonus serving as an incentive for early adoption.
The full scope of the partnership remains unclear, but both companies have hinted at more to come. With BlizzCon just weeks away, fans can expect additional announcements about what the collaboration will entail beyond the initial game releases and cosmetic item.
