BBC leaks GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look length as Rockstar confirms no delay to August 27th event

Ahead of the GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look premiere on August 27th, the BBC has seemingly leaked the showcase's duration, reporting that it will run for 30 minutes. The publication has since removed that specific figure from its article without explanation, but the initial report stated that Rockstar's special would be a 30-minute production.
The BBC's claim adds a new data point to a running debate about how long the event will last. Since Rockstar announced the special on August 6th, fans have been trying to pin down the runtime. The longest GTA 6 trailer to date is the second one, which runs 2 minutes and 47 seconds, so any extended look is expected to dwarf previous marketing material.
Conflicting reports on runtime
Several theories have emerged about the showcase's length. Some subscribers contacted Netflix's customer support, and one agent reportedly said the presentation would last approximately 20 minutes. However, other representatives have given different answers, casting doubt on that single conversation.
Another leak appeared when the streaming service's app briefly showed a 30-minute, 6-second length, though many observers dismissed this as a placeholder or a glitch. A further report suggested the special could be split into three episodes, with a graphic from Netflix Portugal implying a total runtime exceeding 66 minutes. This scenario is considered the least likely, as neither the publisher nor the developer has mentioned multiple episodes.
The BBC's now-retracted 30-minute figure is the most specific claim from a credible media outlet. Whether the writer made an error or had access to accurate information remains unclear, but the original article was very precise about the production's length.
What viewers can expect
It is also uncertain what content the extended look will contain. Recent leaks from Cyberleek showed clips of the character Jason exploring Lenoida, but many fans are hoping to see Lucia in prolonged gameplay footage. Rockstar could mix in interviews or cinematic sequences in the style of past trailers, rather than showing uninterrupted gameplay.
There was some discussion that the studio might delay the event due to the recent leaks. However, according to Bloomberg insider Jason Schreier, Rockstar has no plans to alter its marketing campaign. The developer recently told Bloomberg that the August 27th event will air on schedule.
How to watch
The GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look premieres on August 27th at 3 PM PT / 9 PM CEST. Subscribers can watch it live on Netflix. For those who do not have a Netflix subscription, the presentation will be uploaded to Rockstar's YouTube channel six hours later.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on 19th November 2026. The extended look is expected to be the biggest and best opportunity to see the highly anticipated game in action before its release.
