Elden Ring Tarnished Edition adds new armour, weapons and Torrent skins to find
The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition has arrived, bringing with it a host of new gear for players to discover across the Lands Between. Alongside two new starting classes, the Idus Knight and Heavy Knight, the update introduces fresh armour sets, weapons, and Spectral Steed Regalias that change Torrent’s appearance. Some of these items are available immediately by choosing the new classes, while others require exploration or defeating specific bosses.
Idus Sword and Silver Grooved Set
Players who select the Idus Knight class at the start of the game will receive the Silver Grooved armour set and the Idus Sword. For those who already have a character or prefer a different starting class, the armour set can be purchased from the Nomadic Merchant in northern Liurnia of the Lakes. This merchant is located on the east side of the ravine leading to the Ruin Strewn Precipice, north of Bellum Church, southeast of Carian Manor, and west of the Grand Lift of Dectus. The Idus Sword can also be found on a corpse by a tree in southern Liurnia of the Lakes, northwest of the Liurnia Lake Shore site of grace.
Hefty Scimitar and Heavy Knight Set
The Heavy Knight class provides the Hefty Scimitar and the Heavy Knight armour set as starting equipment. Alternatively, the armour set is sold by the Isolated Merchant at the Isolated Merchant’s Shack in the western Weeping Peninsula, south of the Fourth Church of Marika and the Witchbane Ruins, past the walking mausoleum towards the coast. The Hefty Scimitar can be purchased from a Nomadic Merchant in southern East Limgrave, northwest of Fort Haight.
Leontiel’s Greatsword and Armour Set
To obtain Leontiel’s armour set and her greatsword, players must first defeat Starscourge Radahn at Caelid Castle on the southeast coast. After the battle, ride Torrent north from the Starscourge Radahn site of grace towards the War-Dead Catacombs. Along the way, Leontiel will invade and must be defeated to earn the armour and weapon. Notably, Leontiel also appears as a summon during the Radahn fight, adding a new layer to the encounter.
Golden Order Flail and Broken Gold Mask Set
Details on the final armour set and weapon are available in the full guide, but the set is located in Leyndell, the Royal Capital.
Torrent Skins: Spectral Steed Regalias
The Tarnished Edition also adds three new Spectral Steed Regalias that change Torrent’s appearance. These can be equipped at any site of grace by selecting the “change spectral steed appearance” option. Players with existing characters can backtrack to collect these items even if they have already progressed past the required areas.
The Spectral Steed Regalia: Tree Sentinel is found after defeating Godrick the Grafted in Stormveil Castle. Once the boss is dead, enter the throne room and go through the right-hand doorway behind the throne. A chest in this previously empty room now contains the skin, which makes Torrent resemble the mounted Tree Sentinel enemy.
The Spectral Steed Regalia: Carian Silver is located in Ranni’s Rise in northern Liurnia of the Lakes. It is in a chest in the main downstairs room, right by the site of grace. Players must first defeat Loretta in Caria Manor to access this area. This skin gives Torrent the appearance of a Carian knightly steed.
The final skin, the Spectral Steed Regalia: Funereal Night, is essentially a Night’s Cavalry skin. It can be found in the Altus Plateau, southeast of the Hermit Merchant’s Shack site of grace in the city’s outer ring. Follow the road southeast until you see the sword war memorial on the cliff edge. The skin is by a small sword just off to the left side of that memorial.
Additional DLC Weapons in the Base Game
The Tarnished Edition also appears to bring several DLC weapons into the base game, including Backhand Blades, the Thrusting Shield, and the Great Katana. These weapons are now available for players to find and use, expanding the options for both new and returning characters.
For those looking to start fresh, the Idus Knight and Heavy Knight classes offer immediate access to some of the new gear, but the full range of armour, weapons, and Torrent skins requires exploration across Limgrave, Liurnia, Caelid, and the Altus Plateau.
