Star Wars Zero Company early debt and Droideka boss fight explained in new guides

Recent guides for Star Wars Zero Company have shed light on two of the game's early challenges: the 80,000 credit debt to Gorga the Hutt and the first major boss fight against a Droideka. The guides clarify that the debt, which initially appears to be a daunting financial obligation, is actually a narrative device rather than a persistent gameplay mechanic.

Paying the debt to Gorga the Hutt

Players are given eight days, referred to as cycles, to repay the 80,000 credit debt to Gorga the Hutt. Early missions only reward a few hundred credits, making it impossible to gather the required sum through normal gameplay within the time limit. The solution lies in progressing the main story until Cycle 4, at which point mandatory plot events introduce new characters who are motivated to clear the debt. Once these characters appear, players can access the Holotable and activate the Critical Operation called "Payback," which removes the debt from the game entirely. The guides note that this reveals the debt to be less of a mechanical obstacle and more of an early story driver, and that completing it leads to a subsequent choice called Gorga's Revenge.

Defeating the Droideka boss

The Droideka, or Destroyer Droid, serves as the first major boss fight in Star Wars Zero Company. It appears during the Slugrat's HQ mission, protected by regenerating ray shields that require sustained damage to break through. The fight is complicated by constant enemy reinforcements and the player's team likely being weakened from earlier encounters. However, the Jedi Tel-Rea Vokoss joins the squad for this battle, providing additional support.

The guides outline three main weaknesses of the Droideka. First, concentrated fire is essential because the shield regenerates every turn. Repeaters and Longarm blasters, being damage-focused, are effective, though Tel-Rea's melee attacks also work despite putting her in harm's way. Second, anti-droid weapons and mods such as the Droid Popper grenade and Ion Modulator weapon mods deal increased damage to ray shields, though these items are randomly distributed through the Black Market or mission rewards. If players have the Ion Modulator, equipping it on a Blaster Pistol allows multiple uses per turn. Third, the Droideka's shields drop when it moves, so characters with overwatch can shoot it during repositioning. Players can encourage movement by backing away or using a Concussion Grenade or Kabb punch.

The Droideka regenerates 46 shield health per round, requiring heavy damage output. The guides suggest focusing on the Droideka rather than the constant reinforcements, as the latter will continue to appear regardless. Tel-Rea Vokoss, who appears for the first time in this fight, should be handled carefully to avoid losing her.

Additional mission guidance

Other guides cover the Dark Waters and Eavesdropping missions in Star Wars Zero Company, offering advice on how to complete them. The Dark Waters guide explains what operators to use, while the Eavesdropping guide provides strategies for finishing the mission without losing any squad members.

Star Wars Zero Company appears to be a tactical game that blends narrative-driven objectives with combat encounters, requiring players to manage resources, team composition, and positioning. The early debt mechanic serves as a tutorial of sorts, teaching players to follow the main story rather than grind for credits, while the Droideka boss fight introduces key combat systems such as shield management, overwatch, and the use of specialised equipment. The guides emphasise that paying attention to the story and adapting to enemy weaknesses are crucial for progression in the game's early stages.
