Final Fantasy VII Revelation confirms Sephiroth and Vincent story DLC for 2027-2028
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will receive two story-focused expansions after its launch, with the first centred on Sephiroth and the second on Vincent Valentine and the Turks. The content was confirmed through a Steam listing that surfaced after the game’s appearance at Sony’s latest State of Play presentation, alongside a PlayStation Blog post that described the upcoming Story Expansion Pass.
The pass bundles an accessory, a survival item set, and the two story DLCs. The accessory, named Reclaimant Choker, restores a small amount of HP when enemies are defeated, while the survival set offers items intended to help during the early stages of the journey. Both DLCs are planned to launch between winter 2027 and spring 2028, though the publisher has stressed that the content and its release timing are subject to change.
Two chapters, two fan favourites
The first expansion is titled simply “Sephiroth.” No details have been given about its plot or how it will handle the iconic antagonist. The second, called “Vincent & the Turks,” makes direct reference to the organisation Vincent belonged to before the events of the original Final Fantasy VII, which has led to speculation that the chapter could act as a prequel or explore his backstory in some capacity. Neither expansion has a listed price, and the publisher has not offered any further narrative information at this stage.
Both DLCs will be available for individual purchase after their respective releases, and the Story Expansion Pass itself can also be bought separately once the main game is out. The pass is also bundled into the newly announced Premium and Premium Plus editions of Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Those editions grant 24 hours of early access to the base game, some in-game consumables, and the accessory mentioned above. The Premium Plus tier adds a digital art book and a mini soundtrack on top of those bonuses.
Long-rumoured additions finally confirmed
The existence of the Story Expansion Pass had already been hinted at through a third-party database tool for the Epic Games Store, though at the time it was unclear whether the listing was genuine or merely a placeholder. The confirmation puts an end to that uncertainty. It also aligns with earlier comments from the remake trilogy’s lead, who had said before Final Fantasy VII Revelation was even officially announced that the then-unnamed third part in the series could receive DLC if there was significant demand from players.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled to launch on April 8, and will be released both physically and digitally on the same day. The game’s appearance at State of Play provided its biggest showcase yet, but the DLC announcement came through the Steam page rather than the presentation itself, giving fans their clearest picture of what to expect after the main story concludes.
What remains unknown
Beyond the broad release window and the two chapter titles, the publisher has not confirmed what either expansion will contain in terms of gameplay, setting, or how they connect to the main campaign. No pricing has been announced for the individual DLCs or the Story Expansion Pass, and the publisher has not clarified whether the expansions will be exclusive to any platform or available across all versions of the game.
The Vincent chapter’s mention of the Turks is the only concrete narrative hook offered so far. Since Vincent’s history with the organisation predates the events of Final Fantasy VII, fans have reason to expect a deeper look at that period, but the publisher has not confirmed whether the DLC will function as a prequel, an interquel, or something else entirely. The Sephiroth expansion is even more of a blank slate, with no indication of when it takes place or how it will approach the character.
With the main game still several months from release and the expansions targeting a window nearly two years out, the publisher has ample time to fill in the gaps. For now, the key facts are simple: two story DLCs are coming, they star Sephiroth and Vincent, and they are planned for a release between winter 2027 and spring 2028.
